Exigent circumstances

Situations that demand immediate action and permit law enforcement to bypass certain constitutional requirements, such as obtaining a warrant. These circumstances must present a clear and present danger, such as the imminent destruction of evidence, the escape of a suspect, or a threat to public safety. The scope of permissible action is strictly limited to addressing the exigency.
