Anticipatory warrant

A search warrant issued by a magistrate based on an affidavit demonstrating probable cause that evidence of a crime will be at a specific location at some future time. The warrant becomes effective only upon the occurrence of a specified triggering event. These warrants are used to address situations where evidence is not yet present but is expected.
