Probable cause

A reasonable belief, supported by facts and circumstances, that a crime has been committed or that evidence of a crime exists in a particular location. This standard is required for law enforcement to make arrests, conduct searches, or obtain warrants. It is a higher standard than reasonable suspicion but lower than proof beyond a reasonable doubt.
