Surrogate court

A specialized court with jurisdiction over the probate of wills, the administration of estates, and the affairs of decedents. These courts handle matters such as validating wills, appointing executors or administrators, and resolving disputes among heirs and beneficiaries. In some states, this court's functions are performed by a probate court or a division of a general jurisdiction court, such as the superior court.
