Treatment over objection

The administration of medical care to an individual who refuses it, often due to a mental health condition that impairs their capacity to make informed decisions. This practice requires a legal finding of incompetence and a court order or other legal authorization. Such orders balance an individual's autonomy with the state's interest in public health or the individual's well-being.
