Trust protector

An independent third party appointed in a trust instrument with powers to oversee the trustee's administration and distribution of trust assets. This individual can modify the trust, remove and appoint trustees, or veto certain trustee actions, particularly in irrevocable trusts. Their role is to safeguard the settlor's intentions and protect beneficiaries' interests over the long term.
