Underwriter

An individual or entity that evaluates and assumes financial risk for a fee, typically in the context of insurance, loans, or securities. They assess the likelihood of a loss or default and determine the terms and conditions under which the risk will be accepted. Insurance underwriters, for example, decide whether to issue a policy and at what premium.
