Composite leading indicator (CLI)

An economic statistic created by combining multiple individual leading indicators into a single index to forecast future economic activity. Supply chain planners use the Composite Leading Indicator (CLI) to anticipate shifts in demand, production, and overall business cycles, informing inventory and capacity decisions. The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) publishes monthly CLIs for its member countries and other major economies.
