Transshipment

The process of unloading cargo from one mode of transport and loading it onto another to complete a journey. This transfer may occur at an intermediate port, terminal, or hub, where goods are moved between ships, trucks, trains, or aircraft. Transshipment is distinct from a direct shipment, which travels from the origin to the final destination on a single vehicle or vessel.
