Advective region
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003320
An area within the atmosphere where the horizontal transport of properties by the wind is the dominant process influencing local conditions. In such regions, changes in temperature, humidity, or pollutant concentrations are primarily driven by the movement of air masses. This contrasts with regions where local sources or vertical mixing are more influential.
