Advective change of temperature

The change in temperature at a fixed location due to the horizontal movement of air with different thermal properties. This occurs when warmer or colder air masses are transported into an area by the wind. It is a primary mechanism for temperature variations in the atmosphere, distinct from local heating or cooling processes.
