Advection frost
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003317
A type of frost that forms when cold, moist air moves horizontally over a surface that is already at or below freezing temperature. The moisture in the advected air then condenses and freezes directly onto the cold surface. This differs from radiation frost, which forms under clear, calm conditions due to radiative cooling.
