Airmass shower

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003414

A shower that develops within a single, unstable air mass without the influence of a frontal system or other large-scale lifting mechanism. These showers are caused by localized convection, where surface heating creates buoyant parcels of air that rise, cool, and condense. Airmass showers are typically brief, scattered, and occur during the afternoon when solar heating is at its peak, particularly during spring and summer months.
