Airmass precipitation

Precipitation that forms within a single, relatively homogeneous air mass, rather than along a frontal boundary. This type of precipitation often results from convective processes or orographic lifting within the air mass. Examples include scattered showers and thunderstorms in warm, moist air, or light snow in cold, stable air.
