Arc cloud

A low, horizontal, arc-shaped cloud formation that often appears at the leading edge of a thunderstorm or cold front. This cloud, also known as a shelf cloud or roll cloud, is formed by rising warm, moist air being lifted by the outflow of cooler air from the storm. It indicates strong atmospheric instability and can precede heavy rain and strong winds.
