Fine, solid particles ejected into the atmosphere during volcanic eruptions or large fires, composed of pulverized rock, minerals, and glass fragments. Volcanic ash can travel thousands of kilometers, posing hazards to aviation, reducing visibility, and affecting air quality. Particles typically range in size from less than 2 millimeters to microscopic levels.
