Autumn ice

Sea ice that forms during the autumn season, typically characterized by its relatively thin and fragile nature compared to multi-year ice. It is the initial stage of ice formation as water temperatures drop below freezing. This ice is more susceptible to melting and breaking up than older, thicker ice.
