Chou lao hu

A period of unseasonably hot and dry weather that occurs in late summer or early autumn, particularly in parts of East Asia. This phenomenon, whose name translates to "autumn tiger," marks a brief return to summer-like conditions after an initial spell of cooler weather. It is associated with a strong subtropical high-pressure system that brings clear skies and elevated temperatures, sometimes lasting for a week or more.
