Shell ice

A thin, hollow layer of ice that forms on the surface of water, often enclosing a pocket of air or water beneath it. It develops when the surface freezes rapidly, or when water levels drop after initial freezing, leaving a void. This ice type is fragile and breaks easily under pressure.
