Bayesian method

A statistical approach that updates the probability for a hypothesis as more evidence or information becomes available. It uses Bayes' theorem to combine prior knowledge or beliefs with new data to produce a posterior probability. This method is applied in meteorology for forecasting, data assimilation, and uncertainty quantification.
