Center of gravity

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004223

The unique point where the weighted average of all the mass particles of an object is concentrated, such that if a force is applied at this point, the object will undergo translational motion without rotation. In atmospheric science, understanding the center of gravity of an air parcel or a cloud can be relevant for analyzing its stability and movement. For a uniform gravitational field, it coincides with the center of mass.
