Closed circulation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004395
An atmospheric flow pattern where streamlines or isobars form complete closed loops around a central pressure system, such as a low-pressure cyclone or a high-pressure anticyclone. This indicates a well-defined and often persistent circulation feature that is largely isolated from the surrounding atmospheric flow. Closed circulations are common in mature tropical cyclones.
