Closed drainage

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004396

A hydrological system where surface water does not have an outlet to the sea, instead collecting in an inland body of water or evaporating. This results in a self-contained watershed where all precipitation eventually remains within the basin. Such systems often lead to the formation of salt lakes due to the accumulation of dissolved minerals.
