Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004398

A lake that does not have an outflowing river or stream, meaning its water balance is maintained solely by precipitation, evaporation, and groundwater interactions. These lakes are characteristic of endorheic basins and often exhibit high salinity due to the accumulation of dissolved minerals over time. The Great Salt Lake in Utah is a well-known example.
