Closed system
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004399
A thermodynamic system that can exchange energy, but not matter, with its surroundings. In atmospheric science, this concept is applied to specific air parcels or volumes where the mass of air is considered constant. The first law of thermodynamics, which states that energy is conserved, is often applied to such systems.
