Cloud-height measurement method

Any technique employed to determine the vertical distance of a cloud base or top from a reference point. Common methods include using ceilometers, pilot reports, or visual estimation from the ground for cloud bases. Satellite remote sensing, radar, and lidar are used to measure both cloud base and top heights.
