Cloud-height indicator

An instrument designed to measure the vertical distance from the ground to the base of a cloud. These devices, such as ceilometers, use laser or light pulses to detect the cloud base. Cloud-height indicators provide real-time data for aviation safety and meteorological observations at airports and weather stations.
