Pulsed-light cloud-height indicator
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008210
An instrument that determines the height of cloud bases by emitting short pulses of light, typically from a laser, and measuring the time it takes for the light to reflect back from the cloud. This device, also known as a ceilometer, calculates the cloud height based on the speed of light and the measured time delay. It provides continuous measurements of cloud base altitude.
