Continuous-wave radar
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004648
A type of radar system that transmits a continuous, uninterrupted radio wave rather than short pulses, primarily used to measure the Doppler shift of targets. This shift indicates the target's velocity relative to the radar, making it suitable for detecting moving objects like precipitation or wind shear. Unlike pulsed radar, it cannot directly determine range without additional modulation.
