Coastal Zone Color Scanner

A satellite-borne instrument that was designed to measure ocean color, providing data on chlorophyll concentrations and suspended sediments in coastal waters. It operated from 1978 to 1986 aboard the Nimbus-7 satellite. The CZCS was a pioneering sensor for studying marine primary productivity and water quality.
