Color temperature
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004522
A measure of the temperature of an object based on the color of the light it emits, assuming it behaves as a black body radiator. In atmospheric science, this concept is applied to satellite imagery, where different cloud types or surface features emit radiation at varying wavelengths, corresponding to different effective temperatures. For example, cold, high clouds appear brighter in infrared imagery than warmer, lower clouds.
