Equivalent blackbody temperature
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005454
The temperature of a hypothetical blackbody that would emit the same amount of radiation as an observed object at a particular wavelength or range of wavelengths. This concept is widely used in remote sensing to infer the temperature of surfaces, clouds, or atmospheric layers from their emitted infrared radiation. It provides a measure of the radiative temperature of an object.
