Discrete spectrum

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005050

A spectrum consisting of distinct, separate frequencies or wavelengths, rather than a continuous range. In atmospheric science, this can refer to the absorption or emission lines of specific gases, which occur at precise wavelengths. This contrasts with a continuous spectrum, such as that emitted by a blackbody.
