Conditional probability
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004582
The likelihood of an event occurring, calculated under the assumption that one or more other events have already happened. This concept is central to meteorological forecasting, where the probability of a future weather state is dependent on current and recent atmospheric conditions. For example, the probability of fog is conditional on the temperature falling to the dew point.
