Probability integral

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008158

The cumulative distribution function of a probability distribution, which calculates the probability that a random variable will take a value less than or equal to a specified value. It represents the area under the probability density function curve up to a certain point. This integral is used in atmospheric science to determine the likelihood of a meteorological event falling within a particular range, such as the probability of wind speed exceeding a certain threshold.
