Distribution function

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005073

A mathematical function that describes the probability of a random variable taking on a certain value or falling within a given range. In atmospheric science, it is used to characterize the statistical properties of meteorological quantities, such as the size distribution of cloud droplets or aerosol particles. The cumulative distribution function gives the probability that a variable is less than or equal to a specific value.
