Phase function

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007890

A mathematical description of the angular distribution of scattered radiation by a particle or a volume of particles. It quantifies the probability that incident radiation will be scattered into a particular direction. This function is a key component in radiative transfer models, describing how light interacts with atmospheric aerosols and cloud droplets.
