Differential (scattering) cross section

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004990

A measure of the probability that a particle will be scattered into a particular solid angle per unit incident flux. This quantity describes the angular distribution of scattered radiation or particles, providing insight into the interaction between incident waves or particles and a scattering medium. It is typically expressed in units of area per unit solid angle, such as square meters per steradian.
