Absorption cross section
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003202
A measure of the probability that a photon will be absorbed by an atom or molecule. It represents the effective area that a particle presents to an incident photon beam for absorption to occur. This value varies with the wavelength of the incident radiation and the specific properties of the absorbing substance, influencing atmospheric radiative transfer models.
