Phase distortion
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007889
The alteration of the phase relationships between different frequency components of a signal as it propagates through a medium or is processed by an instrument. This can lead to changes in the waveform's shape without necessarily affecting its amplitude spectrum. In radar meteorology, phase distortion can affect the accuracy of target localization and velocity measurements.
