Rayleigh phase function

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008425

A mathematical function that describes the angular distribution of scattered radiation for Rayleigh scattering. It indicates how much light is scattered in each direction relative to the incident light, showing a strong preference for forward and backward scattering. This function is symmetric about 90 degrees, meaning equal scattering occurs at angles like 45 and 135 degrees.
