Structure function

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009329

A statistical tool used to characterize the spatial variability of a random field, such as atmospheric turbulence. It quantifies the mean squared difference between values of a variable at two points separated by a certain distance. For a stationary process, the structure function is related to the autocovariance function.
