Cordonazo
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004698
A violent storm of the west coast of Mexico, in many cases a tropical cyclone from the eastern Pacific, occurring chiefly in late September and early October. The Spanish word means a lash or blow, and the full name cordonazo de San Francisco ties the storms to the feast of Saint Francis on 4 October. It is a tropical storm of the Pacific coast, not a cold-front gale of the Atlantic.
