Crevasse

A deep, open crack or fissure found in a glacier or ice sheet, formed by the differential movement and stress within the ice mass. These features can range from a few centimeters to many meters wide and extend tens of meters deep. Crevasses pose hazards to travel across glaciers and are often obscured by snow bridges.
