Glacier flow
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005981
The movement of glacial ice under its own weight and the influence of gravity, occurring through internal deformation of the ice crystals and basal sliding over the underlying bedrock. The rate of flow varies depending on ice thickness, slope, temperature, and the presence of meltwater at the base. Typical flow speeds range from a few centimeters to several meters per day.
