Cryogenic period

A geological epoch characterized by widespread and severe glaciation, representing one of the most extreme ice ages in Earth's history. During this time, much of the planet's surface was covered by ice, extending even to low latitudes. The Cryogenian period, for example, occurred approximately 720 to 635 million years ago and is associated with 'Snowball Earth' events.
