Cumulonimbus capillatus
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004796
A mature cumulonimbus cloud characterized by a distinct, fibrous, or striated upper part, often resembling hair or an anvil. This fibrous texture indicates that ice crystals dominate the cloud top, signifying that the cloud has reached the freezing level and is actively producing precipitation.
