Daily maximum temperature
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004843
The highest air temperature recorded at a specific location over a continuous 24-hour period. This period is defined by the observing network, for example, from midnight to midnight local time for climatological stations. The maximum temperature occurs in the afternoon, several hours after the sun has reached its highest point, due to the lag in terrestrial radiation heating the lower atmosphere.
