Daily minimum temperature
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004845
The lowest air temperature recorded over a 24-hour period, usually from midnight to midnight or from one observation time to the same time the next day. This value is measured by a minimum thermometer or an automated sensor and most frequently occurs shortly after sunrise, following the period of maximum net radiational cooling overnight. Along with the daily maximum, it is used to calculate the daily mean temperature and the diurnal temperature range.
