Depth marker

A graduated stake or post installed vertically in the ground to measure the depth of accumulated snow. It is placed in a location representative of the surrounding area, away from drifts and obstructions, allowing for direct visual readings of snow depth. Markers are read from a distance to avoid disturbing the snowpack, and measurements are recorded in centimeters or inches, often to the nearest whole unit.
